Board Structure:
How We Work
The foundation is governed by a board of directors and is led by the executive
committee that is made up of its four officers and an at-large board member.
To optimize commonly held goals, the all-volunteer board includes, on an ex officio
basis, representatives from the Board of Education, Town of Glastonbury, Glastonbury
PTSO, and the Probate Court.
It should be stated clearly, however,
that the foundation exists as a non-political entity independent
of both the Board of Education and the schools. The foundation's
work may supplement current Board of Education priorities but is
not a substitute for them. Nor is the foundation simply a routine
alternative funding source for the schools. Our aim is to seed pilot
projects not considered to be a normal part of the annual school
budget.
At the same time, the foundation does
not seek to overlap organizations such as the Parent Teacher Organizations,
etc. We strongly support all efforts to promote education in Glastonbury
and wish to concentrate our work in areas where a need is not being
met. |
